Parallel Voices 2010

Parallel Voices 2010: Wednesday 17th March – Friday 19th March.

For the third series of Parallel Voices at Siobhan Davies Studios, the multi-media artist Carsten Nicolai brings together, in a series of panel discussions and events, personalities who form a Missing Link – artists and performers who have served as bridging figures in the arts, crossing or simply ignoring boundaries.

Monitor

To accompany the programme Carsten Nicolai presents a specially commissioned light installation, monitor consisting of custom made neon tubes. Conceived to create a link between the inside and outside of Siobhan Davies Studios, it will be mounted on the façade of the building, its light play communicating movement and sound.

Wednesday 17 March 7pm

Two artists present work that cuts across the scope of the visual arts.

Opening of monitor

Performance: test pattern [live set]
by Ryoji Ikeda – UK Première

test pattern [live set], the latest audiovisual work in Ikeda’s datamatics series, presents intense flickering black and white imagery, which floats and convulses in darkness to a stark and powerful, highly synchronised soundtrack. Ultra fast moving images provide a performance test for the audio and visual devices, as well as a response test for the audience’s perceptions.

Note: The work contains strobe and high levels of sound.

Tickets free, limited capacity.
