Rhythm Section #7: Scott Grooves

Detroit House Legend Scott Grooves is coming to Peckham, and Rhythm Section are delighted to be hosting him for this exclusive UK date.

Scott Grooves is best known for his work with Roy Ayers on 1998 Album ‘Pieces of a Dream’ along with ‘Mothership Connection’ – the George Clinton and P-Funk Collaboration expertly remixed by Daft Punk on Soma Quality Recordings.

Scott Groove’s output spans over 20 years of production, taking in everything from soulful jazz infused compositions to downright jacking techno tracks.

As well as releasing work on seminal dutch techno label CLONE, he also runs the labels “Natural MIDI”, which is geared towards the edgier analog sound, and “Modified Suede” which portrays his more organic soulful side.

As a former record store employee and a true advocate of vinyl culture and sound, we are more than a little pleased to play host to this Detroit Legend in such an intimate underground venue.

For the task of supporting Mr.Grooves, we have summoned some of the best selectors to have graced the 1210’s down at Rhythm Section:

Andrew Ashong: hailing from Forest Hill by way of Ghana, has a vinyl collection that would make most record shops look like a car boot sale. Andrew has released tracks in collaboration with Theo Parrish and has an EP in the pipeline for Sound Signature. With an almost inhuman knowledge of jazz, funk, soul, disco, latin, rock and hip hop and a collection of the rarest records to facilitate this, Andrew was the first person that sprang to mind as support for such a special show. Those who where there for Rhythm Section #5 will fully sympathise: Andrew’s set was transcendent.

Deep Soul Konnection: A Quartet of the most musically legit dudes in London comprising of Jason Spencer, Jus’ Paul, Adrian Ammo and DJ Heart. These guys have been on the soul/disco/house scene since it began and they know their game inside out. Expect Funk rarities, soul anthems and straight up house bangers from this experienced foursome.

Bradley Zero: The Rhythm Section man, Phonica Records Employeer and Boiler Room Producer and host will be on hand to keep things running smoothly and nice upn the dance Peckham style.
