LIVE! with Swooping Duck, SilentJay x Jace XL & Shepherd

LIVE! is a coming together of two local institutions to provide something new for the community; real live experiences from the best local and international players. Rhythm Section and Peckham Chamber Orchestra (PCO) join forces once again to present an international trio of live musical offerings.

After the incredible success of our first LIVE show last year featuring Yussef Kamaal, The Brother Moves On and Duval Timothy, we are pleased to present a very special show, featuring 2 of Australias most vital outfits, with support from an ascendent local artist in the form of 22a Music‘s Shepherd.

Swooping Duck
Paul Bender, Simon Mavin and Perrin Moss are 3 of Australias finest musicians, flying free on 100% improv mode: No music, no tunes, zero material to fall back on. Just ears, adrenaline, focus, being in the moment, pure improvisation.
When not blowing minds-on-the fly with their Swooping Duck side project, Bender, Simon & Perrin form the backbone of 2 x Grammy nominated outfit, and our favourite band in the entire world – Hiatus Kaiyote.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear this music for the first, last and only time.
Our man Bradley Zero was Lucky enough to see the trio at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and we can confrim that his mind was indeed, blown. Musicianship of the highest callibre – not to be missed!

Coming straight out of Melbourne with plentiful attitude, Producer/multi-instrumentalist Silentjay has teamed up with fellow Hiatus Kaiyote backing vocalist, Jace XL to present their unique strain of future leaning, retro rooted R&B.
Their Debut Mini-Album, ‘Sacrifice’, drops on our very own Rhythm Section INTL label mid April and is already causing something of a stir. The more devoted fans amongst you may have already grabbed one of the limited edition casette tapes – they flew out, prompting us to follow up with a 12″ release.
At once sincere and heartfelt, the songs do not shy away from the playful influence of 90s RnB – a sound that is a defining influence on the record, which despite clocking in at just under 30 minutes, attains a level of artistry and conceptual cohesiveness that many artists could only dream of.
On stage, the duo marry a slick delivey of harmonised vocals with live keys and beats, never failing to work the audience into a sensual frenzy. Jaws wll drop, potentially panties too and just you wait until Jay whips out the sax!
Buy the Record, learn the words, and join us in this officially unnoffical launch show.

Local soul singer Shepherd steps forward with a bunch of brand new material, representing Peckham alongside 22a Music / Five Easy Pieces affiliated beatmaker Reginald Omas Mamode IV.
