Uk Don Frankie Valentine back in Peckham

You may remember, almost exactly 2 years ago to the day, when Frankie Valentine stepped into the pool hall to save the day after a nightmare cancellation from Scott Grooves at the hands of Her Majesty’s immigration Services. Upon asking around for an answer to who could possibly step into this detroit veteran’s shoes, the same name came back again and again: FRANKIE VALENTINE. To say Frankie did not disappoint would be quite some understatement. A DJ since the Late 70’s, Frankie used his wealth of experience and vaults of records to work the crowd into an insatiable frenzy, the likes of which I have really never seen before. It turns out the old school really do know how to do it better.

Super super excited for Frankie’s return to the pool hall; this time for an extended exploration into all things soulful. As always, Rhythm Section is about DANCING, and this is no exception. Dress to sweat, leave ego’s (and coats) at the door and phones in your pockets please. We’re here to get loose and express ourselves, not take shitty iphone photos in the dark.

The doubly exciting news is that Canavan’s Peckham Pool Club now has one of the best rigs south of the river. Yes, our humble little nite spot just had aFunktion-One (Official) rig installed by the guys at Sound Services. It was installed last week and this is the first Rhythm Section session on the new system. We’ll be tweaking the parameters and working on the acoustics for the next few months to make the sound as perfect as possible, but needless to say, the music should sound sweeter than it has in a long while.

2 decks, a rotary mixer, 1 red light and a few crates of vinyl – all in our new ENLARGED dance floor. always, don’t be late to avoid that queue, be nice and no photo’s on the dancefloor please!
