Rhythm section returns to it’s spiritual home at Canavan’s for the 5th monthly late night instalment of vinyl joy.
Joining Bradley behind the decks this month are 3 of London’s foremost selectors, collectors and disc
Andrew Ashong, hailing from Forest Hill by way of Ghana, has a vinyl collection that would make most record shops look like a car boot sale. Andrew has released tracks in collaboration with Theo Parrish and has an EP in the pipeline for Sound Signature. With an almost inhuman knowledge of jazz, funk, soul, disco, latin, rock and hip hop and a collection of the rarest records to facilitate this, we look forward to something special from Mr. Ashong.
I met Mamiko in the NTS studio on valentines day, during a guest slot on marshmellow’s morning marauders. Listening into the show on my iPhone on the way in I heard the smoother than smooth transitions and effortless beatmatching and thought “oh no, another ablelton Dj”
Walking into the studio I was astounded to see that all this wizardry was coming from 2 decks and a mixer and at that moment I knew she had to take a break from her schedule of international dates and come down to Peckham, thankfully she said yes.
Often popping up at after parties in and around Peckham, local man Tristram can usually be seen behind a Dj booth as the solitary vinyl dj with a bag full of vintage disco records looking slightly concerned because the turntables aren’t working or somebody forgot the needles. Hopefully Tristram can feel at home at rhythm section, with our 3 fully working decks and spare styli- a-plenty for him to work his retro magic.
As ever: 10 till late.
£3 all night if you sign up to the guest-list on this page, otherwise £5 after 12.
